RYA First Aid
Course Summary

Stay safe on the water with the RYA First Aid course - a one-day training scheme, taught by an experienced and qualified instructor, designed specifically for those that will be spending time on or around the water. The course provides vital knowledge and practical experience, covering a range of important topics.
Course Outline
- The recovery position in a confined space
- CPR, including the drowning protocol
- Cold shock and hypothermia from immersion and/or exposure
- Seasickness and dehydration
- Medical assistance or advice by VHF
- Helicopter rescue
- Managing bleeding, shock and other injuries afloat
- First aid kit essentials for the maritime environment
Ability After Course
- Confident in delivering first aid both ashore and afloat, ensuring you are prepared for real-world emergencies on the water.
RYA Recognition Information
This RYA course is held under the Bury Lake Young Mariners Recognised Training Centre at our base at the Rickmansworth Aquadrome. The maximum Instructor to Student Ratio is: 1:12 and the minimum duration for the course is 1 Day.
