RYA Start Sailing Stage 2+3
Course Summary
This course is aimed at those who have already completed a beginners course (Stage 1+2) and have been sailing for roughly a season in between. It's often hard to remember all of the information we pack into a week of training, so at BLYM we fully recommend that everyone progresses to Stage 2+3 rather than jumping straight to 3+4. This means that your standard of sailing will improve consistantly and any revision can be done without adding too much pressure to an already busy schedule. The course will introduce you to new boats from those you have already sailed and develop your existing skills whilst adding new ones at a manageable pace.
The course is aimed at children aged 9 to 16.

- Basic sailing skills
- Ropework
- Collision avoidance
- Rigging, launching and recovery
- Sailing techniques
- Capsize recovery
- Sailing theory
Ability After Course
- Able to tack and control boat speed
- Understand basic principles
- Able to launch a dinghy
- Able to sail a dinghy around a triangle in moderate conditions
Please note that this course is only available for people from the ages of 9-16. We cannot make exceptions to this rule.
