RYA Start Sailing Stages 2+3

Course Summary

This course is aimed at those who have already completed a beginners course (Stage 1+2) and have been sailing for roughly a season in between. It's often hard to remember all of the information we pack into a week of training, so at BLYM we fully recommend that everyone progresses to Stage 2+3 rather than jumping straight to 3+4. This means that your standard of sailing will improve consistently and any revision can be done without adding too much pressure to an already busy schedule. The course will introduce you to new boats from those you have already sailed and develop your existing skills whilst adding new ones at a manageable pace.

• Rigging, launching and recovery
• Sailing techniques
• Capsize recovery
• Sailing theory

Ability After Course

• Able to tack and control boat speed
• Understand basic principles
• Able to launch a dinghy
• Able to sail a dinghy around a triangle in moderate conditions

RYA Recognition Information

This RYA course is held under the Bury Lake Young Mariners Recognised Training Centre at our base at the Rickmansworth Aquadrome. The maximum Instructor to Student Ratio is: 1:6 and the minimum duration for the course is 4 Days. The following material is provided to you as part of your course:
