RYA Club Racing

Course Summary

Are you looking to develop your racing further? This intensive two days of coaching covers elements from every aspect of racing. You’ll look at improving upwind efficiency, downwind tactics, rules around the course and start line acceleration. This course is taught by a RYA Race Coach with a maximum of 6 students per coach, providing direct coaching on and off the water.

It is recommended to have completed and be at the standard of RYA Start Racing for this course. If you have any queries please email racing@blym.org.uk

Course Outline

• Boat control on a start line with transits & acceleration.
• Improving efficiency through roll tacks and gybes.
• Creating a race strategy through the use of laylines, clean air and wind patterns.
• Sail controls for a range of conditions.
• Racing rules for fleet racing and strategy planning.

Ability After Course

• Able to take part in club racing in a range of conditions.
• Able to create a strategy for a race course.
• Increased confidence in the rules for racing.
• A greater understanding of what makes tacks, gybes and race starts efficient.

RYA Recognition Information

This RYA course is held under the Bury Lake Young Mariners Recognised Training Centre at our base at the Rickmansworth Aquadrome. The maximum Instructor to Student Ratio is: 1:6 and the minimum duration for the course is 2 Days. The following material is provided to you as part of your course:
